연구분야 | My primary research interest is the prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation of postural control deficits in individuals with lower extremity musculoskeletal injuries such as Chronic Ankle Instability (CAI), and in the neuropathological population such as stroke patients.
My main goals with these two areas of research are: 1) to improve and develop postural stability assessment/evaluation techniques available to clinicians and researchers with minimal resources; and 2) to improve and establish rehabilitation/management of postural control deficits (balance impairments) due to musculoskeletal and neurological deficits. The conceptual model to the right illustrates the continuum of postural control deficits due to musculoskeletal and/or neuromuscular injuries. The areas in blue highlight my research focus. My current research focus grew directly from the biomechanical assessments of postural control deficits by the instrumented assessments including force-plate measures, electromyography, and biomechanical motion analysis and the non-instrumented assessments including functional performance tests, and self-report questionnaires in musculoskeletal and neuromuscular injury patients. These assessments may indicate the presence and severity of postural control deficits and identify factors such as physical activity level, muscle strength, and biomechanical abnormality in individuals with neuromuscular injury. |
